REQUEST FORM

When you are writing, whether it be for a journal entry or logging with another player, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

♥ Your writing doesn't have to be extremely "literary." In fact, it's usually best to write in much the same way as you would speak if you were telling a story to a friend: using simple language and a personal, lively tone.

♥ COMMON MISTAKES:
; conscious (someone's mind) vs. conscience (someone's sense of right and wrong)

; it’s (it is) vs. its

; their vs. there vs. they’re (example: "The Darlings are going to the opera, and they're taking their daughter Wendy there.")

; than vs. then (example: If Chelsea has more candy than Robin, then Robin is going to cry." THAN refers to an amount, whereas THEN refers to an action or time.)

; lose vs. loose (example: "If your pants are loose, you might lose them.")

; everyday vs. every day (example: "I wear my everyday perfume every day.")

; a lot (not "alot")

♥ While the dash marks an interruption, the ellipsis shows a thought or line of speech trailing off before it is completed. It is also a handy way to change a subject. In addition, an ellipses is only three dots in length.

♥ DIALOGUE FORMAT: We forego the traditional indented dialogue format in LJ games simply because it is easier to read over the alternative format that is usually noticed when reading fanfiction. Here is an example of how your logs, journals, and dialogue should be formatted:

Squall glanced at Jack before he gave a small nod in greeting and continued to pull his boots off. When he was finished he walked into the kitchen as well and went to reach for a glass. His mouth was parched and tasted of metal from being at work for so long.

Jack's habits never really bothered Squall. It wasn't really any of his business to pry in that life anyway. He always witnessed Jack talking to himself or doing very odd things but none of it had really affected Squall. As long as his things were left alone, he was happy and on a majority it was like that. Perhaps that was why they worked well as room mates? Squall never was a very judgemental person anyway. In the long run, Jack paid his half of the bills. Somehow.

"So what did you do today?" he asked lightly, making small conversation.

Jack moved along the kitchen cabinets, keeping his back toward them. He leaned one long arm across the countertop and offered a cheeky smile as his body angled itself into a slouch.

"Oh, you know," he replied, his voice airy and nonchalant, "a bit of this. A bit of that. I went to the docks, you see, to perhaps draw upon the sea for inspiration. I've had a bit of a tiff with a painting." With Jack, this was meant very literally, and he looked slightly hurt by the whole ordeal. "He called me horrible names. I had a very hard time calming him down."

Note the lack of indentation and inclusion of a blank space between each paragraph. Also, please note that it is recommended (not required) to color-code with logs not done in comment-to-comment fashion, in order to make it easier for the reader to discern who is speaking/acting. This is easily done now in rich text format.

♥ When constructing dialogue, note that all punctuation apart from the period are to be included within the quotation marks: For example:

- "And the section states it's for animals over ten pounds," Jack announced.
- "If he goes back to the docks, of course he will!" Jack argued quickly.
- "What?" Squall ventured carefully.

These are your most basic rules when writing fiction in a roleplaying setting. I hope that they help you the same way they've helped me.

• Do the characters still have inhuman abilities or magic?

No, all characters will be rendered completely human, stripping them of any magic or other abilities. Everyone only has the talents that real human beings are able to posses.

• What do you mean by the weather always being sunny and balmy?

The city itself is shielded from all forms of weather, meaning that it is always a warm summer-like day, every single day. This is because the world is isolated from those conditions. Winter never comes therefore there is no need for Fall or Spring. To mask this, the city was formed as a costal area and is very close to an ocean.

• My character is originally not human, what are they now?

All characters are transformed into human form! That includes all animal characters, inhuman races and singing inanimate objects.

• What do you mean by the worlds they really belong to?

The true worlds they should be in are of course their canon universes such as the ones from their games and movies. Those are their real lives. So any past memories they have here and that are outside of Twilight City like childhoods or of people-- are fake, put there to help them with live inside this world now.

• Will the characters ever find out that this world is a fake and not the one they’re actually from?

They shouldn’t be able to know that they are in the wrong universe and should only be aware of their lives having always been here. Think of it like all the characters are stuck in an inescapable city, similar to something like The Truman Show. The can have dreams or déjà vu about their real worlds, but on majority they will not know. The plot will unravel later on.

• Where does my character live inside the city?

The characters must pick one of the residential areas to live. They have to be one of the areas that are listed on the locations page. You cannot make up your own residential areas or live somewhere else besides the places listed there! There are many to pick from ranging from apartments, suburbs to even China town. Balamb University can be listed as a current place of residence.

• What are the legal ages in Twilight City?

The legal age (drinking, marriage, etc) is eighteen. The legal age of sexual consent and the ability to apply for a job is sixteen. Children can become emancipated (To be considered on their own, free to drop out of school, etc) at sixteen.

• Why can’t I use Gackt as a PB?

Just no. Okay seriously, he’s an image that has been overused too many times and we are sick and tired of seeing his boney ass. Also, we don’t care how many Final Fantasy characters look like him, sorry.

• What Final Fantasy characters can I play?

Any character that is classified as a canon character. That includes the games, movies, anime, and the extension games such as Final Fantasy Tactics. You can’t, however, play technically original characters such as the ones made in Crystal Chronicles or Final Fantasy Eleven. You also cannot play spin off characters like those from Legend of Mana or the like. You can play personified versions of all summons, aeons and espers as well!

• What Disney characters can I play?

Any character that is classified as a canon character. This however does not include the characters made in collaboration Disney movies such as the ones done with Pixar. You are allowed to play any Disney character featured in Kingdom Hearts which includes Pirates of the Caribbean and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

• Kingdom Hearts featured a lot of Final Fantasy characters that could easily be described as a different person like; Seifer from Twilight Town or a different Aerith. Can I play those characters as separate people?

No. The Final Fantasy characters that are in Kingdom Hearts should also be the ones from their canon games. This means there should only be one Aeris and no Twilight Town Seifer.

Twilight City - Schools, Locations, Residential areas

SCHOOLS

BALAMB UNIVERSITY
	The main University campus in Twilight City is located in the very middle of downtown, making it one of the most defining marks in the area. The complex is large enough to host a nearly every class and specialty that students would need. Classes run all weekdays and have night classes running on weekends for the busy or working student. Because of the high demand at the University and busy schedules of everyone, dormitories are available to the students for easier access to and from school.
HOLLOW BASTION HIGH SCHOOL
	Being the only High School in the city, HOLLOW BASTION HIGH is quite busy. Students finish their high school years in a richly equipped school that even has a courtyard sitting in the center that has recently been nicknamed "The Radiant Garden" by the school populace. Students attending this school will spend three years here, attending grades ten to twelve only. This school has no dormitories available.
IVALICE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
	IVALICE JUNIOR HIGH is one of the smaller schools in the city, functioning in a old building that has been used as a school house for seemingly hundreds of years. Although the building is very old and harbours rumours of being haunted, it doesn’t stop it from being a bustling school for junior students. Students will spend grades seven to nine here. This school has no dormitories available.
LIONEL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
	The elementary school is actually quite large for a school educating the youngest students in the city. The building is a work of modern art with many glass windows. The playground for the students is one of the best in town. Students start their school years here and attend grades Kindergarten to grade six. This school has no dormitories available.
TANTALUS THEATRE
	The theatre can be considered a educational building on its own, even though it is located on the BALAMB UNIVERSITY campus and functions as another branch of the school. This theatre is large enough to host a variety of arts classes ranging from dance lessons to music and various forms of acting classes. It can be categorized as a theatre school on its own, and is known to have shows playing in the main auditorium nearly every Friday.

LOCATIONS

GOLD SAUCER SHOPPING MALL
	The GOLD SAUCER SHOPPING MALL is a complex large enough to span various blocks and streets. It is known for having every single brand name store that one can think of and included many individually owned stores as well. There lies a large water fountain in the center of the mall. The building is also equipped with hotels. Always bustling with people and full of new product every single day, it is open every day from 10AM-9PM.
THE PHOENIX DOWN: RESTAURANT AND PUB
	This pub is one of the most popular buildings in town. All adults go here on the weekends to enjoy a fresh brewed glass of alcohol or just spend the evening with some good friends. Located just off of the GOLD SAUCER shopping strips, it is always full of people. Opened every night at 8PM-3AM.
SEVENTH HEAVEN
	The SEVENTH HEAVEN is an alternative bar located closer to the residential areas. This bar also has minor nights every Thursday for the youth underage, allowed to come and have a place of their own-- of course, alcohol-free. This pub is opened from 6PM-MIDNIGHT.
SPIRA STADIUM
	SPIRA STADIUM is the epitome of sports central. It includes a large football field as well as a hockey rink for the biggest events in the year. While each season runs the current sport, there is still time for school teams to come and train in the mighty stadium.
COSTA DEL SOL
	This lovely hotel and resort is an escape from the city life and is the portal to a resort heaven. Located near the docks, COSTA DEL SOL overlooks the water and nearby beaches and always seems to have rooms available. This resort is equipped with rentable dinner halls and a wedding chapel as well.
LUNATIC PANDORA
	LUNATIC PANDORA is the resident night club that is open every single night to the nocturnal types in the city. It’s located extremely close to the ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD, although this club is said to be one of the best in the entire world for its high class and talented staff. There are rumours a darker type of organization uses the club as a headquarters. The doors are open from 8PM-4AM.
FOSSIL ROO AMUSEMENT PARK
	This colourful amusement park is for all ages and is open on the weekends only to the entire city. It is just as any other amusement park would be with rides, carnival booths and sticky snacks. This particular attraction has one of the largest fun houses you will ever see! Open on weekends from NOON-10PM.
ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD
	The large, spidery maze of back alleys and side streets is commonly known to locals as the ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD. This area is largely populated by the homeless, drug dealers, gang members and other various hoodlums. The area received its name by the fact that people seem to enter but never leave, not even in a body bag.
PARTHENON
	The PARTHENON is a large, locally owned and operated gym. It offers a variety of aerobics and specialty classes, as well as state of the art exercise equipment. Also equipped with tennis courts, recreational areas and a skating rink! Open seven days a week, 5AM-10PM.
AGRABAH MARKETPLACE
	Twilight City's very own open-air market, AGRABAH MARKETPLACE offers local produce from the outskirts of the city, as well as various crafts and other products, from jewelry to jams! Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 8AM-5PM and Sunday 12PM-5PM. Closed Monday through Wednesday
TOWNE HALL
	The TOWNE HALL is where official Twlight City business takes place. It it home to our mayor's offices, and serves as both our common political meeting place as well as our courthouse. Town meetings are held in the community auditorium.
PASSAMAQUODDY DOCKS
	PASSAMAQUODDY DOCKS offers both seaside recreations in addition to being our major port. The Twilight City lighthouse, which is over 100 years old, is located near our rocky banks. For families, there are several fishing areas as well as recreational docks for boating and water sports. Our fishermen make a living here, and we export some of our local goods from here, as well.
TIKI ROOM
	THE TIKI ROOM, a combination coffee/art house, is a typical hangout for University students. The ground floor houses some of the finest espresso-based drinks in the area (and they make a mean hot chocolate, too!). Upstairs, there is a small gallery that displays some of Twilight City's best art. Local musicians perform every Sunday. The coffee house is open 7AM-10PM, and the gallery is open NOON-10PM Thursday through Saturday. The Menu
NEVERLAND PARK
	NEVERLAND PARK, located in the heart of Twilight City, is home to over 80 different kinds of trees and plants. Almost fifty years ago, the Park's Conservatory Society introduced a man-made lake into the middle of the park. Soon thereafter, a rumor began to circulate that a crocodile had taken a home there, and to this day the rumor still exists.
SAINT AJORA HOSPITAL
	SAINT AJORA HOSPITAL is the center of health for the city. As the largest hospital, most cases are sent here for both emergency or long term stay. The building is beautiful as it is equipped with everything it needs. This particular hospital also has an impressive intensive care unit as well as psychosis ward.
ATLANTIS BEACH
	Located a few miles down from the docks, ATLANTIS BEACH offers clear blue waves and bright white sand. Families can spend summer days relaxing here, and surfers can be seen trying to find that perfect wave.
FABULA NOVA CRYSTALLIS CHURCH
	FABULA NOVA CRYSTALLIS CHURCH, often nicknamed simply, "Nova Church" is known at the largest in the city. With towering buildings and beautiful architecture, it is one sight to behold. It is located very close to the heart of the city.
SHINRA INDUSTRIES
	These buildings and complexes are known as the scientific section of the city. Research and development occur here as well as the underground studies of the people of Twilight. It is known as the largest pharmaceutical company as well as provides a place of study for certain fields of science.
LOCKSLEY ARCHERY RANGE
	Set near the outskirts of the city for the room. This archery range was build for the enjoyment and practice of the citizens and both memberships and guest passes are available. The range is actually simple and fairly small.

RESIDENTIAL

LITTLE NIBELHEIM
	This residential area is classified as a middle class area that features medium sized homes and community parks. The houses are usually modeled after old European homes, much of which are probably just as aged. Living is simple and easy here much like living in a little town. This area is suited for families or for the elderly.
WINHILL
	The WINHILL district is classified as the beautifully tucked away suburban area. The houses are a bit more pricey but larger, newer and particularly beautiful and modern. This area is suited for families or for people who have the money to buy a home here.
SHERWOOD
	SHERWOOD is yet another suburban district with homes that are large as they are modern and chic. Surrounded by man-made gardens and lakes, this area is said to be a little more pleasant to the green-thumb. Gardens or not, you’ll be paying a pretty price to be living in this area.
RABANASTRE APARTMENT COMPLEX
	This apartment complex is one of the smaller ones, located closer to downtown for easy travel. As an alternative to students, these apartments are only one or two bedroom, leaving them not very suitable for families or groups of more than three. It may be cramped, but this apartment is usually full of good people and a hominess fills its halls. One Bedroom - Two Bedrooms
LEMURES APARTMENT COMPLEX
	Blowing the RABANASTRE APARTMENT COMPLEX out of the water, LEMURES APARTMENT COMPLEX is a high rise building also located a stone throw from downtown. It’s bigger, highly expensive, but can hold up to four bedrooms per apartment. The building overlooks the downtown core leaving a beautiful nightlight sight for those who love a view. KRAMER ORPHANAGE
	For children that have the tale of having no parents, most of them come to find a home at KRAMER ORPHANAGE. Although it is small and the building old, it is full of love and nurturing until the children can ether become emancipated or find a new home with loving parents. Unfortunately, the building is located a few blocks from the slums but that doesn’t keep it from being dragged down. Children up to the age of sixteen can be housed here.
NARSHE ZOZO SLUMS
	The slums are full of old and cracked houses that aren’t very much a sight to see. This area doesn’t have any parks or playgrounds as well, leaving it with little pleasantries at all. Although, it is cheap to live here and isn’t so bad once you get used to the cockroaches.
POWHATAN
	POWHATAN is a large, rural area just outside of the city, where most of the local produce is grown and harvested. It is littered with tiny cottages and small homes leaving it cosy and warm. Being on the outskirts of the city leaves it hard to travel but easy to live away from the city noise.
CHINA TOWN
	CHINA TOWN is a small district that is decorated in old and new oriental influenced architecture. It has been here as long as the city has seemingly been standing, leaving it homey and old. It looks like a page out of a Chinese fairy tale. Better yet, the houses range to all sizes and are decently priced!

Twilight City - Rules & Information

GENERAL RULES;

• No god-modding! This is when you make decisions and write for another character during logs, journals, and so forth. Just stick with what your character is doing and thinking and let the other players be their own.

• Please try to stay in character! Although this is considered an alternate universe, all characters should keep a sense of the canon personality and not stray away into actions that they would not really do.

• The age requirement for this game is SEVENTEEN. You must be this age or older to be considered for this game. This is in order to comply with LJ's recent crackdown on adult content and to assure a maturity level within gameplay. This game will include graphic situations and the moderators cannot be held responsible for any unwanted exposure.

• Activity is a must. Please do not apply, get accepted and then do nothing. Please post within your first week of acceptance, and continue to post at least once every two weeks. There will be an activity check at the first of every month, so make sure to check back to the community and keep up to date with the game. If you are going to be missing for a while, please inform the game within last_phase, the OOC community. Failure to inform moderators of a hiatus could result in removal from the game.

• Got a beef with another player? Please be civil about it and solve it. If a conflict gets too serious and out of hand, moderators will step in. In the case that a moderator needs to be contacted in regards to a player conflict, please immediately inform them.

• Please be respectful to the other players. Do not bring Out of Character into the In Character. This includes emotions, or any kinds of problems or fights.

• You are not your character. In no means should you be acting or placing too much of yourself into your character. Although character connections are healthy, you are still two different beings. Please be careful to not treat others as their characters as well.

• Refrain from negatively criticizing, or telling other people how to write or play their characters. If you seriously have a problem with they way one of the characters is being played, take it up with a mod.

• This game is open to all forms of sexuality. That being said, there is no excuse of determining your character's sexual preference for your own wants for the character. Do not make your character homosexual/heterosexual/etc for no apparent reason. It must be logical!

• There is a character limit of three. This means you can only apply for and play three characters, maximum. This is to help with a diverse game and more players able to join.

• There shall be no Mary Sue/Gary Stu. Your characters are not perfect. They are human beings with strengths and weaknesses. Be sure to balance both.

• There are no original characters or repeat characters allowed. In addition, there are no repeat PB's allowed. Gackt is not allowed as a PB.

• Respect your moderators! They love you, so please try and love them. Make outs and cookies always accepted.

JOURNALS;

• Journals will be used as a way to express what a character is thinking and feeling. They will be used just as we use a journal. Characters will all posses a livejournal where they communicate with other characters in the game and muse about their own lives.

• Posts considered too large (you should be able to deem what is "too large") should be put under a LJ-cut. Learn to use the LJ-cut! ALL meme's and quizzes are to be put under cuts.

• Journals can be cut into PRIVATE MESSAGES directed to other characters by using the LJ-CUT in order to label the message to someone else. Whatever is under a private cut can only be visible to that character. This will work as an in-game private messaging system.

• The comment title of the comments left on the journals can be used to make it visible to certain characters only. If a comment is titled to address and certain character only, only that character should see it. For example, since Jack and Squall are flatmates, Squall can comment leaving the title of "JACK." Jack can reply leaving a title of "SQUALL," and so on. Although we as players can see and read the comments, our characters CANNOT.

LOGS;

• All logging and playing should be done on THREADS or LOGS in the main community twilight_city. They will be done using a round robin style of writing using the comment system. AIM and GOOGLEDOCS may also be utilized in logging with other players. Additional information on journal entry and logging format can be found in the Writing Tip Sheet.

• You should write two or three paragraphs of what your character is doing, saying or feeling in a third person perspective. After you post the comment, the next player will respond to the previous comment with their own character. Progress takes place with the comment turns.

• Using the tagging system will allow players to go back and check previous logs. Please be sure to tag all CHARACTER NAMES into the tags for quick reference and back dating.

• The format that a thread should be posted under is this;

Who: [The characters involved in the thread]
What: [A quick summary of the events or thread]
Where: [Where the thread takes place]
When: [The time frame, or time of day]
Warnings: [Anything that might need one; NC17, gore, language etc.]

• An ACTION or OPEN thread is open to any character that might be in the area, who wishes to join the thread. They can be set anywhere and any character may be involved.

• A PRIVATE or CLOSED thread is one that is specifically created for a certain cast of characters and only allows those characters mentioned in the WHO section allowed to comment. This is used for the purpose of having only a certain cast of characters for plot allowed in that event.

• Players are encouraged to open as many threads or logs as they want! Threads are a great way to get plot and storyline moving along. Moderators will open some once and a while to create plot.

• Make sure you've checked our taken characters list before applying. There will be no duplicate PB's under any circumstances. Gackt is not allowed as a PB.

• Put as much creativity in your application as possible. We are looking for great adaptations of the characters as well as a proper balance between this fanon and the original canon. Use your writing skill!

• Remember when creating your application that Twilight City is a self-contained city. This means that there is no roaming military, imported or exported goods, or any foreign countries to speak of. Twilight is completely self-sustaining and all-inclusive. Twilight's citizens know of nothing beyond the city limits.

• Please also note that picking a character model is vital in the application process, so be careful and creative when choosing who will represent your character. Please note that this is a PB game, meaning "played by," otherwise known as a game that uses real people. Actual character icons are only allowed for OOC posts. Please consider these as an example.

• Once you have been accepted, be sure to create a journal, join all the communities linked to this game and add the other player journals onto your friends list. Your character and player information will be added into the database. Please, also make an introduction post and say hello to the game on last_phase, our OOC community.

• You must have the accepted biography of your character available to be viewed in the profile of your character journal.

• If you are denied you have the option of applying again as a different character. You are allowed to try again with the same character as well.

• Be respectful to the choices of the moderators. Do not get angry if you are denied. Our decisions are final. You may apply again for either the same character or a different one after one day. During this time, the moderators will be happy to give you feedback and constructive help with your application. You may not apply for the same character more than twice.
